Apologies and Problems

Posted by Denise on June 22, 2013

I want to apologize for not posting for the past couple of weeks. We had a catastrophic computer hardware failure involving our external hard drive and we lost all of our completed, but not yet published recipes, photos, website forms, inventories and all other support documents for upcoming posts! It's taking me some time to regroup and get organized again. I should have had a backup for those files, but I was researching the best way to do it and was lulled into a false sense of security with our expensive external hard drive. :-(

Luckily, I saved everything for the website on a separate drive, with a backup in yet another location. So previous posts are secure. At least I did part of it right!

So, the bottom line is that I've had to reorganize and start to redevelop recipes and take new photos, but I'm making great progress and should be able to start posting in a day or two.

Our other on-going problem should also be solved soon. If you have wondered why we have a recipe blog without a comments section, it's because we created our website using a very good program, but one that we've discovered is incompatible with any of the comment programs. I operated on the assumption for quite a while that it was my inexperience with the software programs and HTML language that was the problem. However, I've had some very savvy web people try to make it work and they had no luck either. Whew! At least it wasn't me this time!

So, I am working on transferring the entire website over to a new platform. Busy, busy! But well worth it when it gets done. It's going to take me a little while to get it ready to publish while I sort out how to do it, but we will get there eventually and I'm excited about the changes. We hope you'll come along for the ride and stay with us during the process!
